Ultradur® B6560 M2 FC TF - the first PBT suitable for extrusion and thermoformed packaging

Packaging applications made of Styropor® Ccycled™

Ultradur® B1520 FC R1 high flowability PBT for injection molded packaging applications

Ultradur® B1520 FC R1 the product of choice when it comes to single layer aroma sealed packaging. The well-balanced barrier properties against moisture and oxygen make a secondary packaging redundant. On top the packaging can be very thin which is a prerequisite for economic and ecological production. So, using Ultradur® B1520 FC R1 means: less resources used, less packaging waste generated. The food contact certification makes this grade suitable for thin-walled packaging for cosmetics and food products.

Ultramid® Flex F38L, the partly biobased Copolyamide with outstanding properties

Ultramid® Flex F38L is a partly biobased Copolyamide with outstanding properties which cannot be achieved with conventional polyamides. It is extremely flexible and transparent. Its resilience allows manufacturers to use the Polyamide for technical and agricultural films. Furthermore it´s also suitable for vacuum skin packaging. In the production process Ultramid® Flex F38L is immediately soft without conditioning and has 50% less water uptake than Polyamid 6. The new grade has a different O2/CO2 transmission ratio to all other Polyamides and can be used for cheese ripening bags.

Ultramid® Flex F38L represents BASF’s contribution to a potential sustainable packaging strategy. About one-third of the raw materials for the monomer come from locally grown rapeseed oil.

Injection-molded coffee capsules with high flowablility

With injection-molded capsules made of certified compostable ecovio® the coffee grounds can be composted together with its packaging. This is more resource-efficient than having it landfilled or incinerated.

Advantages:

  • Quick cycle times in processing on standard plastic processing machines
  • Good thermal resistance (due to material choice and design)
  • Stiff material with very good impact behavior
  • Suitable for food contact

Coffee capsules made of ecovio® are fully compostable according to international standards, e. g. EN 13432. So the quality of the soil is improved: Coffee is considered to be an excellent addition to the compost pile as it contains nitrogen.

Paper coating with excellent barrier properties

Ecovio® PS 1606 can be used for the coating of cups, plates and trays made of paper, cardboard or recycled paper.

Advantages:

  • Excellent barrier properties: suitable for applications in contact with hot, cold or fatty foods
  • Certified compostable in industrial composting facilities (EN 13432): The food service articles can be composted together with the food residues as organic waste after consulting the local community waste management.

Thus ecovio® PS1606 facilitates and increases the collection and recycling of food waste at public events.
